Westin

Hotel reviews, stays, and stories.

Westin is the chain that will talk you into a workout you never planned. At the Westin Kuala Lumpur I found out you can rent New Balance shoes, shorts and a shirt for about $5, so I called the concierge and a bag came up to the room. The shoes felt brand new. The clothes could have been cuter. I ordered a set for Chris too, and we did the gym, then got on a bicycle in the pool — they really do have them — and I finished with an hour in the steam room and came back up ready for a nap.

Our club room there was closer to a small apartment, with two separate work spaces, which matters when both of you work where you sleep. At the Bayshore in Vancouver the harbor-view room was simple and efficient and not much else. What you’re paying for is out the window: the 1,000 acres of Stanley Park on one side, the water and the snow-capped peaks on the other. The hotel rents bikes and we spent both days riding the park.

About No Destinations

No Destinations is the travel blog of Chris & Danika Garlotta. In 2014, we quit our jobs, sold everything, rented out our house in San Francisco, and boarded a one-way flight to Europe. That decision turned into four years traveling the world full-time, visiting over 250 destinations and sharing our favorites hotels, restaurants, cruises, and experiences along the way.
