The 5 Best Rooftop Bars in Bangkok, Thailand

Bangkok is a city famous for trendy rooftop bars & restaurants. Here are 5 of the best rooftop bars you must visit on your next trip to Bangkok, Thailand.

Its’ a given. Go to Bangkok and you must got to a rooftop bar or restaurant. It’s as if every building has a rooftop something, be it a pool a bar or a restaurant, so we had to test out a few. We got to see the hectic beauty of Bangkok from above. Cool breezes floated around us, lights from the cars and neighboring buildings flickered around and the cocktails weren't too bad.

Trying to come up with a list of the best rooftop bars and restaurants in Bangkok is like trying to come up with the best beers in Belgium. They are all so different and delicious in their own right. After spending almost three weeks in Bangkok we scoped out everything from the trendy to the secluded and came up with a list of our favorites. Yes some on the list are full of tourists and overpriced drinks, but if you're looking to relax with the most incredible views, then here is your guide!

Be warned, Bangkok has a strict dress code policy for most restaurants and bars. Men should wear pants (yes even in 100 degree heat and 90% humidity), absolutely no flip flops or sandals. Women can't wear beach clothes, so put away the cut off shorts and no flip flops as well, but sandals are okay.

These 5 rooftop bars are garunteed to offer amazing views over Bangkok

Sky Bar at Lebua

You might recognize this place...Does Hangover II ring any bells? Sky Bar is the famed rooftop at the Lebua Tower Club where the men enjoyed a few and had a one off with a helicopter. Although you probably wont see any helicopters coming to close, the views are obviously amazing.

The Speakeasy at Hotel Muse

This hidden little gem on the rooftop of Hotel Muse is one of our favorites in Bangkok. It's not touristy (no overzealous backpackers in sight) and you have to go through a secret door to get to the top. It's a relaxing place to be and the strong mojitos and sides of edamame are much appreciated. Definitely a great place to go for before or after dinner drinks.

Breeze at Lebua

The Tower Club at Lebua is home to several restaurants that will tempt any foodie and our favorite was Breeze. The food is delicious, the cocktails are inventive and the views....well they're unbeatable. We sat in a quiet little alcove and it felt as if we had the entire skyline of Bangkok to ourselves.

Above Eleven at the Frasier Suites

Peruvian food with a kick of Japanese is what you will find at Above Eleven in the lively Sukhumvit area. Their pisco sours are a refreshing taste to the typical sweet Thai cocktails and light beers. The food is a yummy change of pace from street food and the views of course are spectacular. Above Eleven felt tourist free and slightly hidden. A place for those that know.

Vertigo at Banyan Tree

Incredibly touristy - yes! Overly crowded - yes! Worth the fight for a seat - yes! It's almost like a right of passage coming to Vertigo. It's the quintessential image you see when thinking of rooftop bars in Bangkok and if you haven't been, you must go. You don't go for the drinks (they aren't that great) and you don't go for the crowds (completely filled with tourists) instead you go for the 360 degree view of Bangkok. Our recommendation: head there as they open, enjoy the views and then head off to dinner!
