WarPigs: The Best Beer & Texas BBQ in Copenhagen

As the love-child of Mikkeller and 3 Floyds, WarPigs is  Copenhagen’s newest brewery and their BBQ is better than anything you’ll find in Copenhagen!

The last thing I expected to find in Copenhagen, was BBQ. Let alone, the best BBQ I had ever hard. And what's more, this magical BBQ joint was located inside one of the best breweries I’ve ever been to, WarPigs.

WarPigs is the cool hip child from the well established and delicious breweries, 3 Floyds and Mikkeller, with a twist. When you walk into WarPigs, you’ll see slab after slab of perfectly BBQd meat being expertly cut, diners smothering sauce over enormous ribs and everyone, yes everyone, licking their fingers and smacking their lips. This is a place, meant for meat eaters and those who appreciate a very well crafter beer.

Just walking into the brewery you know you’re about to have something special. Once you get over the excitement and smells of BBQ, you can then begin to focus on the section of beers in front of you. No compromises are made, on anything and with 20 taps being refreshed constantly, you can always expect to get a great selection.

A bustling coffee shop interior with a large menu board above a counter where baristas serve customers in a bright space.

Cold beer goes hand in hand with good BBQ, but very rarely can you find this combination…so you can imagine our surprise when we learned about WarPigs. Andrew Hroza, previous chef to Van Halen and Slipknot does some serious smoked BBQ. The meat is smoked between 12-14 hours resulting in meat that is so tender it just falls off the bone.

Meats include, brisket, beef ribs, hot links, spareribs, pork shoulder, chicken and of course plenty of delicious sides. Order a mixture and let the chefs tell you what’s best.  My only regret, is we didn’t go for the mac and cheese! It looked like perfection in noodles.

A sliced piece of seared steak with a dark crust and pink center rests on a wooden cutting board.
A pile of split logs with visible wood grain and bark sits against a textured gray wall in bright daylight.
Two bleached white animal skulls displayed in front of framed black and white posters on a dark wall.
A smiling woman in a white shirt holds up two beer glasses behind a counter with a tray of food and a pint of beer.

The food is reason enough to head into WarPigs, but the beer really does steal the show. Offering over 20 beers on tap, the selections are endless and the best. If you’re into craft beers, know what a good IPA is and appreciate refined details, Warpigs is for you. If beer isn’t your thing, you can always have a cocktail or soda which are just as well-crafted as the beer.

Two glasses of beer, one amber and one golden, sit on a wooden table next to a plate of sliced bread.
People stand at a rustic wooden bar with chalkboard menus and rows of glass bottles on a shelf above them.
