Have you ever tried to find a (reasonably priced) hotel or airbnb that can accommodate more than 2 people in the center of London? If you’re nodding your head right now, then you are familiar with the struggle! London is one of our favorite cities in the world, but wow space can be tight! So on our most recent trip to London, we were traveling with our son and my Mom — so we wanted a little more space than what a hotel can typically offer; 2 bedrooms and preferably 2 bathrooms. Plus, we wanted to be right in the city, close to public transport and in a walkable area… I know we had a lot of “needs” for this trip, but hey, we’ve learned that when it comes to traveling with more people, comfort is key!
So as we started going down the rabbit hole of researching hotels and airbnbs very few options were coming through. However we did notice a trend, Cheval Collection kept coming up as full service apartments all throughout the city. A quick instagram check (yes we check hotels Instagram and location tags), and reading through TripAdvisor and we knew this was a company worth checking out. The promise of an apartment style hotel stay, with enough room for everyone to be comfortable...let’s just say Chris was getting excited at the thought of not having to share a bathroom with his mother in law :)
Cheval Knightsbridge is part of Cheval Collection, a hospitality group that offers a large selection of luxury furnished apartments within some of London’s best neighborhoods. They offer accommodations for short and long-term stays, and each apartment (or townhouse) is designed and furnished in a unique way. The apartments are all located within a few minutes walk of major landmarks such as the Victoria and Albert Museum and the National History Museum.
The Cheval apartment we were staying at was in Knightsbridge (hence the full name) and each space was decorated differently, including feature walls, dramatic patterns and colorful feature pops throughout. While the overall theme is luxury, it’s safe to say Cheval Knightsbridge residences put comfort at the forefront of their design. There are various sizes of apartments and homes to choose from and they are all within walking distance from the central office or “lobby” area. The concierge is there to take your food order (to be cooked by their on-site private chef), provide courier services, handle your dry cleaning, clean your apartment, and much more. It features one, two, three bedroom, and penthouse apartments, all with varying decor blending modern and traditional elements. Whether you want to stop in for a holiday or stay for a year, their various homes, townhouses, apartments and cottages are available to suit whatever you’re looking for. Afterall, no matter how you travel or who you travel with, comfort is key.

Plush beds, cozy couches surrounding a central fireplace, bustling views and private sleeping quarters are some features you can expect during your stay. You can also take advantage of the sleek kitchens which are fully equipped and spacious enough to have your family or loved ones join you while cooking. (They even include utensils, cookware and some basic staples for you). Bright, clean bathrooms with distinctive marble floors and deep soaking tubs are another highlight of the suites. A few mornings we would have breakfast in the kitchen before heading out for the day. We even ordered out once, and just spent the night in, watching movies in our PJ’s. The hotel is meant to make you feel at home rather than just on vacation, so the amenities and luxuries are beyond what you’d traditionally expect. You can choose a spot that is out of the hustle and bustle or in the heart of the vibrant London neighborhood if you prefer.
The hotel set up a nice crib and mattress for Axel, us adults got our own room and we had a great full size kitchen and a washer and dryer! The decor resembles classic English countryside, yet with a modern twist. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable, even for light sleepers! Perhaps one of the most deciding factors when choosing the Cheval Knightsbridge is the washer and dryer in the flat. It’s a total game changer when traveling with kids or for an extended stay. Another perk? The building has a few doormen who are eager to help answer questions and provide great recommendations. Combining staple home comforts with the service you’d expect from a luxury hotel make this spot ideal for someone who is traveling with family, friends, or another couple.

Since the flats are located in the heart of the city, there’s no shortage of entertainment, shops, and restaurants. We mentioned museums were close by already, and so is Harrods- the iconic department store that is an easy way to lose track of time and gather some souvenirs and essentials. Then, of course, there are the landmarks of London- Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Trafalgar Square, and so much more. Most of these sites are centrally located so you won’t have to travel far to take it all in.
Public transportation is prominent in this area of London, so there’s no need to rent a car. Instead, you can opt for an Uber, a bus, or hop on the tube. There’s so much going on in such close proximity, so entertaining yourselves, your kids, or your family members shouldn’t be a challenge.
