Cobblestone streets surround the property, historic buildings line the streets and the beautiful Frauenkirche is right next door – this hotel is indeed centrally located in the heart of Neumarkt.
Pulling up to the Steingenberger Hotel de Saxe in Dresden, we couldn't help but be completely charmed by the amazing location. As soon as we walked into the hotel we were warmly greeted and quickly taken care of. Our room wasn't quite ready, so we dropped off our luggage, stepped outside, walked about 10 feet and started admiring all the amazing scenery.
The hotel is opposite the Frauenkirche really close to the Dresden Semperoper, the Zwinger, Dresden Castle, the Church of the Holy Cross, Hofkirche, restaurants & cafes. We started familiarizing ourself with the area, took a few mental notes of where we could grab a beer later and made our way up to Brühls Terrace, which was only a 3 minute walk. It felt like we had a birds eye view of Dresden and Neumarkt from the tree lined terrace and easily took 100 pictures to try and capture that warm glow of Fall. After a few hours of exploring we came back to our hotel to check in and get settled.
About The Hotel
The outside of the hotel is stylish yet simple & I wish the theme carried on inside. The interiors and room felt more like I was in a Business Hotel rather than a Boutique Hotel (which I have a soft spot for). I wish the design inside had more character and charm. However, the views from the hotel are amazing. If you stay here, you must ask for a room with a view of the city center. Waking up every morning and being able to see the sun rise from the Frauenkirche was such a peaceful way to wake up.
The warm bathrobes were such a welcome pleasure after being out in the cold all day. My routine became this – enter room, enter hot shower, enter bathrobe and stay in it all night. Although the design isn't my favorite, the little amenities made me feel like I was in a luxury setting. In my room I noticed they had a La Mer facial for 75 Euro and the boutique next door scored major points with me. The service was fantastic and the team went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.
Even though we were on the “street side” we had such a peaceful night sleep and didn't hear a thing. We were told that the hotel was at full capacity but you would never know it by how quiet everything was. We never heard other guests and rarely saw other guests in the hallway.
Aside from being polite and welcoming, the team really went out of their way to make us feel special. I left my planner behind and didn't realize it until we got back to Berlin. I called the hotel and they immediately sent it to me with everything left inside and untouched. Thank you!
Overall we had a really comfortable stay at the Steingenberger Hotel de Saxe. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced hotel (with an amazing breakfast buffet) in the city center, this is the place for you.
