Planning a trip to visit the temples of Angkor, or an early sunrise tour atop Angkor Wat? Then staying at Le Méridien Angkor is a great option to add to your itinerary. The layout is pretty vast and the architecture is inspired by the temples of Angkor and Siem Reap’s rich cultural past blended with European touches. The result is a comfortable retreat in the midst of the cities cultural heritage with the amenities we expect from the Le Méridien brand.
Visiting Cambodia during the summer is a very hot experience. So when we saw the large pool, glistening in the sun, it took us just a few minutes to get ready and jump in. Although it’s hard to justify spending your time in Angkor laying by a pool, it’s a welcome break from the heat. Plus lazing blissfully by the refreshing pool, working your way through the cocktail list, gives you plenty of time to figure out where to eat for dinner!
Everything from the well-manicured gardens with swaying palm trees to the large comfortable lobby (perfect for catching up on work) had me wanting to sit and relax for a bit. The big smiles and friendly gestures from the team all added to the ambiance of our stay and made it a great option to come home to.
Our room was appealingly simple with a large window facing the lush gardens. The bed was comfortable and we greatly appreciated the large bathroom. Although the rooms were a bit outdated, the location & cuisine definitely made up for it.
We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon right as lunch was being served. Pretty hungry we sat at the Royal Cafe and had amazing Khmer inspired dishes. We started with a fresh papaya salad and spring rolls before digging into Beef Lok Lak, a local beef stir fry dish which is full of flavour! Make sure to save room for dessert, as their apple tart is probably the best we’ve had!
The Royal Cafe is also where breakfast is served with plenty of options to choose from. The buffet offered all the usuals, like granola and fruit, but it was their Asian dishes that made this breakfast special. It’s perfectly acceptable to have noodle soup and curry before 8AM :)
